Ian Watkins shocked everyone when he was charged with a series of sex offenses against children. And while the Lostprophets singer (who was also denied bail) has been stuck in custody since his arrest last December, BBC News now reports that he won’t appear at Cardiff Crown Court until May, with the eventual trial date for the week of June 15.

Though his bandmates issued a brief statement about the matter shortly after the arrest, the singer has remained mum. However, Watkins’ solicitor issued an official statement on his behalf, saying the following:

“Mr. Watkins furiously denies all of the charges and allegations made. He intends to fight to the bitter end to clear his name. He wishes to thank the fans, family and friends for the constant love and support they have given and continue to give throughout this testing time.”

As you know by now, Watkins was arrested along with two women, 20 and 24, on conspiracy to engage in sexual activity with a child under 13. Part of their plans allegedly included intentions to rape a one year old. Watkins may claim he is innocent, but he certainly has an uphill battle to endure.
