Metal By Numbers is a weekly column in which we look at the top metal sellers and debuts of the week.
Hello and welcome to 2021, or, as some like to call it, 2020 New Game Plus. Yes, the outlook, for this year is a mix of “let’s hope this year is better” and “2020’s problems don’t magically disappear.” Both statements are valid, though I will say starting off with the death of Alexi Laiho was not the greatest thing. Still, allow me to continue the aforementioned video game metaphor: while new game plus does involve starting over, it also means you keep new abilities and equipment you earned the last time around. So, really, whatever 2021 brings, you’ll be prepared because of 2020. And if nothing else, there’s gonna be new music eventually.
