Metal By Numbers is a weekly column in which we look at the top metal sellers and debuts of the week.
Within the past six months, three-fourths of the Big Thrash Four have released new albums, all of which had their own buzz surrounding them. Slayer’s latest was their first without the late Jeff Hanneman, Megadeth’s featured a revamped line-up and sound, and now Anthrax are following up an album that was surprisingly really fucking good. And wouldn’t you know it all three of these albums have cracked the top five. Now that right there feels good. I wouldn’t expect to hear anything from Metallica anytime soon, but considering The Black Album just sold another 6,300 this week, I’m sure they’ll be fine.
