Metal By Numbers 6/18: Tremonti on top

Posted by on June 18, 2015

Metal By Numbers is a weekly column in which we look at the top metal sellers and debuts of the week.

Do you think more people were excited for the new Tremonti album because of Creed or because of Alter Bridge? Or were they just falling over the fact that Wolfgang Van Halen contributed to the effort? Either way, it’s our top debut for this week, though the rest of debut list is a little sparse compared to last week. Also, many of said debuts from last week have dropped off (including Leprous, my new favorite band) but hey, there’s still much fun to be had. And in case you’re wondering, Metallica’s Black Album sold another 2,300 copies this week, and has sold 60,000 copies in 2015 alone.

Notable Debuts:

Tremonti, Cauterize (Fret12) #20, 13,075 sold

Ex-Creed/current Alter Bridge guitarist releases his second solo album, which manages to outdo his first.

Lorna Shore, Psalms (Workhorse) 870 sold

New Jersey deathcore act has finally released its debut album.

Disarmonia Mundi, Cold Inferno (Coroner) 520 sold

This is the fifth release from this strictly studio melodic death metal band.

Maruta, Remain Dystopian (Relapse) 270 sold

This isn’t a new debut per se (it came out June 2nd) but it’s the first time I’m seeing it on here.

Notable Sales:

Halestorm, Into the Wild Life (Atlantic) #82, 3,100 sold

Just under 100,000 sold.

Faith No More, Sol Invictus (Ipecac) #101, 2,600 sold

A drop of 33%.

Kid Rock, First Kiss (Warner Bros.) #104, 2,550 sold

If your first kiss is during a Kid Rock song…well, we’ve all done stupid things.

Slipknot, .5: The Gray Chapter (Roadrunner) #133, 2,150 sold

A 24% boost with more boosts likely to follow when their next US tour starts next month.

Armored Saint, Win Hands Down (Metal Blade) #156, 1,725 sold

A 56% drop isn’t so bad for second week.

In This Moment, Black Widow (Atlantic) #193, 1,425 sold

Just under 120,000 sold.

Sleeping With Sirens, Madness (Epitaph) #199, 1,400 sold

This popped back up on the charts.

Paradise Lost, The Plague Within (Century Media) 660 sold

A second week drop of 48%.

Art of Anarchy, Art of Anarchy (Century Media) 530 sold

A second week drop of 65%.

Amaranthe, Massive Addictive (Spinefarm) 400 sold

Still going strong after an 11% drop.

Skinless, Only The Ruthless Remain (Relapse) 400 sold

A 64% second week drop.

Starkill, Virus of the Mind (Century Media) 330 sold

The band’s opening slot for Sepultura has gotten them some numbers.

Goatsnake, Black Age Blues (Southern Lord) 300 sold

A second week drop of 59%.

Rival Sons, Great Western Valkyrie (Earache) 300 sold

An 11% boost is great.

Full Devil Jacket, Valley of Bones (eOne) 270 sold

The band’s tour with Hinder gives this a boost (yes, THAT Hinder).
