Metal Inside(r) Home Quarantine is Metal Insider’s new column during this time of isolation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We asked artists five questions on what’s been keeping them busy ranging from their favorite movies, food they’ve been eating, music they’ve been listening to and more. We caught up with Ancient Thrones’ Sean Hickey as he’s been spending this time becoming a better musician.

What have you been doing to pass time during Quarantine?

Since quarantine began, I feel like I’ve become a much better musician with the amount of practice I’ve been able to get in. We also began writing a new album, so my time is spent mostly thinking about where I want that new story to go.

Have you been listening to any music or have any playlists worth checking out?

I went through an entire phase of listening to nothing but the new Phoebe Bridgers album, “Punisher.” I actually had to stop though because it made isolation feel even more depressing, haha.

A lot of people have been spending this time cooking including making their own bread, what food have you been prepping during this time?

I discovered this really simple recipe for roasted cauliflower which has become a side to just about every meal.

In terms of entertainment, what movies, TV shows, books, or games have been keeping you busy?

I actually spent an entire month of watching all of these movies from the distributor A24. Saw so many good movies plus lots of Pagan rituals, surrealist anti-hollywood films, and one with a dress that kills people.

What advice do you have for your fans in isolation during this time?

Find something to do with your time that is productive, whether that be perfecting a skill you already have or discovering taking up something new. We are all in this together, make sure you call your friends and family if you’re feeling alone.
