Metal Inside(r) Home Quarantine: Ego Kill Talent’s Theo van der Loo – “take this challenging time to find your inner peace”

Posted by on May 6, 2020

Metal Inside(r) Home Quarantine is Metal Insider’s new column during this time of isolation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We asked artists five questions on what’s been keeping them busy ranging from their favorite movies, food they’ve been eating, music they’ve been listening to and more. We caught up with Ego Kill Talent’s Theo van der Loo as he’s been catching up with the #MetallicaMondays series, reading sci-fi books, and doing what he can to stay positive.

What have you been doing to pass time during Quarantine?

Staying at home as much as I can. I’m only going out to the supermarket to buy food once a week. What I’ve been doing the most at home is playing guitar, writing some riffs, watching series and meditating (a lot).

Have you been listening to any music or have any playlists worth checking out?

I’ve been watching all the past shows Metallica is putting available weekly! (I think we should also recommend any playlist we put together? @Newman can you help here?)

A lot of people have been spending this time cooking including making their own bread, what food have you been prepping during this time?

Oh, I’ve been cooking daily!! A lot of barbecue is going on here…lots of drinks too!!

In terms of entertainment, what movies, TV shows, books, or games have been keeping you busy?

I’ve been rewatching some series I love. Just finished Breaking Bad and started The Sopranos. I also recently watched The Platform on Netflix. It’s a heavy movie but totally worth it!! As far as books, I always recommend The Power Of Now (by Eckhart Tolle) which fits perfectly this time we are living. Another great (and crazy) book I just read again is The Disappearance Of The Universe (by Gary Renard) . It is a mind blowing book! And if you like Sci-fi and quantum physics check out Dark Matter (by Blake Crouch) a great thriller.

What advice do you have for your fans in isolation during this time?

Take care of yourselves. Stay positive, and most important, take this challenging time to find your inner peace.
