Metal Inside(r) Home Quarantine is Metal Insider’s new column during this time of isolation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We asked artists five questions on what’s been keeping them busy ranging from their favorite movies, food they’ve been eating, music they’ve been listening to and more. We asked The Berserker Blothar of the mighty GWAR what he’s been up to. His answers may or may not surprise you.

What have you been doing to pass time during Quarantine?

Things haven’t changed much for me. I like to knit. I’ve always loved to be at home in my Antarctican fortress playing Mario Kart while in a drunken blackout. I’ve also been spending a lot of time texting with other luminaries such as Leslie Jordan of Will & Grace, and Fabio. Of course, I can also work from home, so I’ve been spending some time piling stones on top of humans until they die.

Have you been listening to any music or have any playlists worth checking out?

I like music primarily distinguished by extraordinary length and utter lack of engagement with the listener. Lots of Manowar and Bongripper, Iron Maiden songs about historic events, Milton Babbitt’s “Philomel.” Stockhausen, John Cage, “Hair Pie: Bake1” by Captain Beefheart. Why can’t more metal be like that?

A lot of people have been spending this time cooking including making their own bread, what food have you been prepping during this time?

I mostly order out. I eat Hooters food probably 6 times a week. I also eat lots of spoonfuls of watered-down tuna fish. No that’s my cat, actually I eat the whole can, the can is the best part.

In terms of entertainment, what movies, TV shows, books, or games have been keeping you busy?

I mostly watch Star Trek, the original recipe. I like to see if I can catch a glimpse of old friends such as Excalbian, Mugato, or the Salt Creature. I used to be in a band with those guys.

What advice do you have for your fans in isolation during this time?

I would encourage people to go out and have a great time. Have a party, host an old-fashioned car wash, have a yard sale. Get out and take to the streets to protest. Like Ol’ Trump says, “What do you have to lose?”
