Metal Inside(r) Home Quarantine is Metal Insider’s new column during this time of isolation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We asked artists five questions on what’s been keeping them busy ranging from their favorite movies, food they’ve been eating, music they’ve been listening to and more. We caught up with Lord Dying’s Erik Olson (guitar/vocals) as he’s been spending this time doing a lot of cooking.

What have you been doing to pass time during Quarantine?

I’ve been doing a lot of cooking! I made some hummus from scratch, and some lemon and garlic sautéed Bok Choy the other night, it was killer! I’ve also been trying to learn how to speak French.

Have you been listening to any music or have any playlists worth checking out?

I’ve been listening to Once and Future Band’s new album “Deleted Scenes” pretty much constantly. It’s a perfect album. If you like 70’s prog, with a touch of fusion and pop this will blow you away. It’s like Steely Dan meets ELO. I also really like the new Oranssi Pazuzu album.

A lot of people have been spending this time cooking including making their own bread, what food have you been prepping during this time?

Tomorrow I plan to make some Beef and Broccoli. I’ve been trying to make mostly low carb meals.

In terms of entertainment, what movies, TV shows, books, or games have been keeping you busy?

I’ve watched Blade Runner several times, and a few movies a friend suggested. All of which I enjoyed. The Big Blue, In the Mood for Love, and Laurence Anyways. I ‘m mostly bored with everything on Netflix.

What advice do you have for your fans in isolation during this time?

Hang tight. It’s likely things won’t be like they were for a long time so keep in touch with your loved ones and let them know you love them.
