Metal Inside(r) Home Quarantine is Metal Insider’s new column during this time of isolation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We asked artists five questions on what’s been keeping them busy ranging from their favorite movies, food they’ve been eating, music they’ve been listening to and more. We caught up with Neck of the Woods guitarist Dave Carr has been busy promoting the group’s new album, The Annex of Ire

What have you been doing to pass time during Quarantine?

Oh all the usual stuff! Playing guitar, cooking, and taking advantage of that free Call of Duty Warzone map! Been having a blast with some pals online. Also just finished DOOM Eternal and thoroughly enjoyed it, along with the soundtrack. We had some nice weather in Vancouver the past while so it was good to be able to get out and go for some ‘socially distanced’ walks or park hangs. Trying to be productive with NOTW stuff as well, I’ve had time to put together a few guitar videos featuring solos from The Annex of Ire, and I’m working on a few online collaboration covers with some other local guitarists.

Have you been listening to any music or have any playlists worth checking out?

I can’t get enough of the last Car Bomb album, Mordial. I just keep coming back for more.

A lot of people have been spending this time cooking including making their own bread, what food have you been prepping during this time?

Full taking advantage of the slow cooker in this situation. Love a good chili, although my new fave is to just drop 4-6 chicken breasts in there with a full bottle of your favourite BBQ sauce. Cook those bad boys up on high for 4 hours, crack the lid and give it stir and you’ve got pulled chicken for days. Toss it on a fresh bun with some ‘slaw and you’re golden!

In terms of entertainment, what movies, TV shows, books, or games have been keeping you busy?

Somehow stumbled into watching Ray Donovan on Crave, which is great cause there are a ton of seasons to catch up on. I also really enjoy some of the outdoorsmen channels on Youtube. Shawn James of My Self Reliance, Ray Mears Bushcraft channel as well. Good way to wind down each night watching these dudes craft and build in the wilderness.

What advice do you have for your fans in isolation during this time?

Wash your hands, go for a socially distanced walk every now and then, be nice to your grocery store clerks and of course… crank up The Annex of Ire!!
