Metal Inside(r) Home Quarantine: Saints of Death – “Be safe, have patience”

Posted by on August 3, 2020

Metal Inside(r) Home Quarantine is Metal Insider’s new column during this time of isolation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We asked artists five questions on what’s been keeping them busy ranging from their favorite movies, food they’ve been eating, music they’ve been listening to and more. We caught up with Saints of Death as they’ve been spending this time jamming online.

What have you been doing to pass time during Quarantine?
Netflix, practicing our instruments, playing with wrestling action figures and mixing pre-prod tracks, and working on the release of our new album “Ascend to the Throne.” The album is now available on all streaming platforms worldwide. We’ve also been using this as an opportunity to start exploring the world of jamming online and using today’s technology to our advantage.

Have you been listening to any music or have any playlists worth checking out?

Twan has been listening to the old Exodus, the newer Judas Priest as well as Dio. Ash has been listening to Wheeler Walker Jr. and Van Halen. Chris has been into Power Trip and the new Code Orange record. Juan has been delving deep into the Spice Girls catalogue and reliving his younger years (just kidding haha, he wasn’t here to answer this question).

A lot of people have been spending this time cooking including making their own bread, what food have you been prepping during this time?
Juan has been eating only Mr. Noodles. Just Kidding, but seriously whatever I can throw together the fastest. Ash has been making traditional Mexican cuisine. He’s been missing all the taco stands since our last few tours in Mexico so he’s been making tacos and other authentic recipes at home. Twan has been cooking his signature “Wrathy” burgers. Shrimp, beef, maple syrup, and a whole bunch of other spices and stuff. All smashed together into one half-pound burger of destruction! Chris – Chris has been doing a dinner from scratch every Sunday and pairing it with a new cocktail and Rock & Roll live video. Last week was Fu Manchu. I made a rosée pasta with Italian Sausage and Peppers and watched the Fu rip an hour and ten-minute set that completely ripped. Fu Manchu actually liked the post and left a comment haha.

In terms of entertainment, what movies, TV shows, books, or games have been keeping you busy?
Ash has been playing Call of Duty WWII and watching The Goldbergs. Juan has been watching True Crime and working on music production for Saints and my other band BatteryMouth. Twan has been working on setting up his new Kemper and getting everything ready to hit the stage/studio once this is all over. He’s been re-watching Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, and Star Wars as well as playing the new reissue of Sega Genesis with his son. He’s also been flipping through his favourite reading material, Bass Guitar Magazine. Chris – Chris has been watching an assortment of movies on Netflix, but mainly working on the album release as well as the mixing and mastering of his other band Witchy Sister’s new album.

What advice do you have for your fans in isolation during this time?
Be safe, have patience, listen to our new album ‘Ascend to the Throne’ out now on all major platforms, and have lots of sex. Live Laugh Love, Drink Toke Fuck!
