Metal Inside(r) Home Quarantine is Metal Insider’s new column during this time of isolation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We asked artists five questions on what’s been keeping them busy ranging from their favorite movies, food they’ve been eating, music they’ve been listening to and more. We caught up with Trevor Ziebarth of Moonlight Desires/Sons of Butcher as he’s been spending this time taking care of alley cats.

What have you been doing to pass time during Quarantine?

As soon as Quarantine started I immediately began recording and completing all the various music projects that I’ve started over the years. I’ve also been working on my house, doing some gardening, and taking care of alley cats!

Have you been listening to any music or have any playlists worth checking out?

My favourite band right now is Ritual Dictates! It’s some of the freshest metal I’ve heard in awhile. I’ve also been spinning lots of Noah Gundersen, Kvelertak, Second to Sun & Grima. I also discovered Thou’s collection of Nirvana covers called ‘Blessings of the Highest Order’ and I’ve been loving my friend Joel from Thrawsunblat’s latest EP called “Insula”!

A lot of people have been spending this time cooking including making their own bread, what food have you been prepping during this time?

I decided to tackle the art of cooking with a charcoal grill! I’ve been experimenting with smoking meats and veggies all summer!

In terms of entertainment, what movies, TV shows, books, or games have been keeping you busy?

I went back and re-watched all The Ninja Turtles movies. I completed watching ‘Mad Men’ while playing ‘Red Dead Redemption 2’ like it was a job. I’ve also been reading a book called ‘Crackilton’ which details some stories about Hamilton’s crack problems from author S.E Thomas who lived it firsthand. I am currently watching ‘Boardwalk Empire’, ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ and the old ‘Spawn’ cartoon from the nineties!

What advice do you have for your fans in isolation during this time?

My advice to fans in isolation is to dive into music. This is possibly the one and only time in our lives that we’ll get this time to explore it. There’s so much great stuff out there and it’s the perfect time to just sit back and listen to a full album start to finish! Music will get us through this!
