Metal Inside(r) Home Quarantine is Metal Insider’s new column during this time of isolation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We asked artists five questions on what’s been keeping them busy ranging from their favorite movies, food they’ve been eating, music they’ve been listening to and more. We caught up with Within Nostalgia as they’ve been spending this time creating new music

What have you been doing to pass time during Quarantine?

I guess both fortunately and unfortunately, I’ve still been working through this whole thing so that still occupies much of my time but since there have been no shows to go to or play most of my leisure time is spent either listening to music or creating new music.

Have you been listening to any music or have any playlists worth checking out?

I’ve checked out so much music during this time, both old and new. One band, I feel definitely worth mentioning is Abstract Void which combines elements of  Atmospheric Black Metal and Synthwave, if that’s your kind of thing. I dove pretty deep into Youtube as well and found a really cool channel called Terminal Passage which specializes in very strange progressive music from the 60’s to the 80’s. Another thing I gotta do is just go back and listen to some albums that flew under my radar during 2019. Cattle Decapitation’s Death Atlas comes to mind for an amazing album that I didn’t get the time to listen to.

A lot of people have been spending this time cooking including making their own bread, what food have you been prepping during this time?

To be fair it’s been a while since real baking has been done in our home but there was a month or so where we made all kinds of desserts, mainly ones that involve excessive amounts of sugar. The one I can recall had a bed of chocolate chip cookie dough, cheesecake filling with crushed Oreos and even more Oreos on top. It was quite heavy on the stomach, to say the least.

In terms of entertainment, what movies, TV shows, books, or games have been keeping you busy?

There’s definitely been a lot of binge-watching of true crime shows, I always find the psychological aspect of murders interesting and how science is able to track them down. Classic shows like Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and The Simpsons as well are usually playing at some point of the day. It’s always nice to take a book out later at night sometimes too. I tend to read a lot of short horror stories if I do choose to read.

What advice do you have for your fans in isolation during this time?

The best advice I could give anyone at this time is to take the time to learn who you really are and learn what makes you truly happy in life. Not just things that make you happy on a small scale but what really makes you happy in life. Another piece of advice I would give is to take this time and check out all the music you can while you can, any genre. I guarantee you’ll find something you enjoy in any and every genre. We’ll most likely never get this chance again in our lives so make the most of your isolation time.
