Metal Insider top 5: Metal David Lettterman performances

Posted by on May 20, 2015

lettermanAfter tonight, the late night talk show landscape is going to get a lot more barren, as David Letterman steps down from his long-running Late Show With David Letterman. He’s been a staple since 1982, when Late Night with David Letterman first signed on at NBC. And while Letterman was best known, at least initially, for his Stupid Human Tricks and Stupid Pet Tricks, as well as his man on the street interviews, he’s also had a variety of musical acts on the show. Letterman has called the Foo Fighters his favorite band, and they’ll be the musical guest on his final show tonight. Over the years, however, he’s had plenty of heavy acts on, including Sevendust,. KISS, Motley Crue, Deftones and Spinal Tap. Here are some of our favorites:

5) Living Colour, “Ignorance Is Bliss” (November 12, 1993)

We’re not doing this in chronological order, but it was pretty cool to see Dave feature bands when they were younger, as opposed to waiting until they’d reached market saturation. Appearing in support of their third album, Stain, Living Colour knocked it out of the park with “Ignorance is Bliss.”
