2. Metal Blade’s Brian Slagel and the Trenton Titans

It’s no secret that Brian Slagel is an avid hockey fan. You could even say that the Metal Blade Records CEO has been our go to hockey insider (pardon the bad pun). So it came as no real surprise to us when Slagel announced he had become a co-owner of minor league hockey team, the Trenton Titans. Slagel made every effort make the Titans the “official” hockey team of metal, launching numerous cross-promotions involving Metal Blade’s roster. Unfortunately, though, it was announced just a few months later that the Titans ceased operations and would not compete in the 2013-2014 season.
