The first single from their platinum 1985 album, Under Lock and Key, “In My Dreams” was a modest hit for Dokken. Apparently, it left an impression on some people – specifically some people that were cast members of the All New Mickey Mouse Club. Unfortunately named band The Party (all former Mickey Mouse alum) decided six years later that America needed a freestyle dance cover of the song. And not only did it do better than the original version, but gave the five-person act their biggest hit of their short-lived career. As for Dokken, it’s a shame that they’re better known for starring in a commercial with a chicken than for the band that had a string of gold and platinum albums in the ‘80s.
