2. Technical Ecstasy (1976): The band wanted to forge a new sound, and they also hoped to achieve more radio airplay if they embraced the friendlier, brighter sound of bands like Foreigner and Queen. What resulted sounds unmotivated, dispassionate, and completely devoid of everything which made their earlier albums unique. Most of the album, save for the tracks “Dirty Women” and “Rock N’ Roll Doctor,” is completely unlistenable. Although this writer stops just short of calling it “the absolute worst Black Sabbath album of all time,” this is perhaps the most uniformly hated Black Sabbath album of all time.
