Unsigned & Streamed: Pheroze

Posted by on November 9, 2011

Why should major label bands be the only ones who get love? Unsigned & Streamed is a column where we stream a song from an unsigned band we at Metal Insider really dig.

This week, we’re putting the spotlight on Pheroze. Originally hailing from India, Pheroze moved from Saudi Arabia to Connecticut in 1993. After heading to New York City in 1997 to pursue his dream of being a musician, Pheroze gained buzz from fronting many local groups, including acclaimed hardcore metal band Scar Culture. But soon after, the singer/ songwriter wanted to delve into newer territories. By 2007, Pheroze recorded all the instruments (besides drums) for his debut solo album Driftwood on his own. However, Pheroze has outdone himself with his second album Crows Into Swine, which was released on November 1. Pheroze’s sound resembles Soundgarden in their prime with a hint of early Danzig. So without further ado, take a listen to the song “Kingdoms,” off of Pheroze’s sophomore album Crows Into Swine, in the stream below.

Pheroze is currently in the midst of putting together live lineup of the band with hopes of touring next year. And though Crow Into Swine just came out last week, Pheroze is already working on new material with the goal of heading back into the studio next Summer to record a new album. You can keep up to date on Pheroze, as well as listen to more of his music, via his website and Facebook page. If you like what you here, make sure to purchase a copy of Crow Into Swine via iTunes.

If you’re in an unsigned band and would like to participate in Unsigned & Streamed, email a link to your band’s music and a brief bio to tips [at] metalinsider.com for consideration.
