Here’s one you don’t see every day: yesterday the BBC published a story about veterinarian Oliver Lown being stricken of his license after videos were found of him having sex with a dog and a horse. Lown was found guilty on five charges by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) and struck off the register of veterinarians in the UK, even though he had never practiced veterinary medicine in his home country, having been trained at a university in Hungary. The BBC report also details that Lown had been found guilty in 2012 on seven more charges “relating to the possession of extreme images involving people and animals, for which he was given a conditional discharge.”

What makes this story relevant is that Lown is apparently a big progressive metal fan. The picture most frequently used of him shows him wearing a Dream Theater shirt. Lown also played drums in a skate punk band, The 4130’s, but the band posted to Facebook earlier today that Lown was being terminated from the band immediately upon the revelation of these charges.

This is the second day in a row that a Dream Theater shirt has been connected to a fairly off-kilter news bit. Will we go three for three tomorrow? Only time will tell, although it will be hard for any story to top this one.
