ian watkinsLostprophets’ singer Ian Watkins has been put on strict suicide watch as he awaits trial in Wales for 24 sex offense charges including the alleged rape of a 12-month old baby, according to the Irish Independent.

During a pre-trial today, Watkins’ defense requested the frontman be moved from Parc prison to a psychiatric hospital to await his October 14th trial. His defense stated that a psychiatrist who assessed Watkins has put him on a five-time-per-hour suicide watch and has recommended psychiatric medication.

Watkins was charged in November by police in South Wales with conspiracy to engage in sexual activity with a female under 13, possession and distribution of indecent images of children and charges of conspiring with a woman to rape a one-year-old girl. He is also being accused of two incidents of conspiring to engage in sexual touching with two young children, possessing, making and distributing indecent images and possessing “extreme” animal pornography.

The founder of the popular UK rock group has denied the allegations publicly and has vowed to clear his name. The two women, 20 and 24,  who were also charged in involvement have only been labeled by the press by their ages because of legal reasons. While the 24-year-old woman is denying the charges, the 20-year-old woman  has confessed to sexually touching a child and distributing photos, the Irish Independent reports.
