Headed to Norway next summer for the Tons of Rock Festival? It’ll be a rager. Emperor will be performing Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk in it’s entirety, and Sabaton will be performing Carolus Rex in it’s entirety exclusively at the fest. Also, Satyricon and Taake will be playing as well as Sodom and Candlemass. They’ve also just announced their headliner – Blink 182.

It’s pretty insane that a bratty pop-punk band best known for making poop jokes during their live show is headlining over Emperor and Candlemass. And as ridiculous as it seems, there’s a little bit of justification, at least from the standpoint of the festival bookers. it will be the band’s first time playing in Norway, which should be good for ticket sales. And while there’s a decent amount of extreme metal at the fest, Airbourne, Amaranthe and Avatar will be playing, all of whom are much more commercial and mainstream than the other headliners. Many, when talking about European festivals, talk about the diversity of the lineups on festival shows. This will pretty much test just how open-minded festival attendees are in 2017.
