Details are pretty scarce at this point, but Gary Miller, better known as Dr. Know, guitarist of pioneering hardcore band Bad Brains, is hospitalized and on life support. While there’s been no official word, many on social media have started to spread the word, including Dean Ween, Living Colour’s Corey Glover, and Black Rock Coalition founder Greg Tate co-founder Greg Tate, who found out about Know via 24-7 Spyz guitarist Jimi Hazel, Ultimate Classic Rock reports. Miller is 57. Bad Brains formed in the late ’70s in Washington DC, and their hardcore sound grew to develop reggae and metal elements over the years.

We’ll update this story as we hear more, but needless to say, our thoughts and positive vibes are with Dr. Know, his family and friends and the rest of the Bad Brains.

Sending #PMA healing vibes, and positive energy to #DrKnow of #BadBrains – I urge you to do the same.
