Sites like Metal Insider don’t run themselves on good will alone. We’re part of a network of metal-oriented sites called the Blast Beat Network. And now the Network is looking for a national ad sales manager. If you have advertising experience, like metal, and can sell, we’re looking for you! From Metal Sucks:

Already the web’s leading online advertising network for heavy metal-related websites (including MetalSucks, Metal InjectionGear GodsLambgoatThe PRP, Metal Insider and Decibel), the Blast Beat Network is now looking to expand its reach beyond the world of music. To that end, Blast Beat is now looking for a young, enthusiastic, extremely motivated and creative, highly driven integrated media ad sales person to help make love connections between our readers and various national brands — soft drinks, snack foods, clothing lines, genre-appropriate movies (e.g., horror, action, sci-fi, etc.), video games, etc. who can help take things to the next level (and is looking to get to the next level him or herself). If you know how to hustle national-level ad sales, want to leap to the next level, and are ready to start scheming — you need to get in touch.

About the gig:

  • This is a remote position, so you need to have your own access to a phone and computer.
  • We will cover expense reimbursement.
  • Pay will be commensurate with experience, and will include a base salary as well as commissions on all sales.

Requirements:

  • Minimum three years of online ad sales experience, ideally selling for music and entertainment-related sites. Straight-up: although you don’t necessarily need to be a seasoned veteran for the position, you do need to have experience with national-level online ad sales. (Not marketing. Not web design. Ad sales.)

  • Either established connections and endemic relationships with national brands, or reasonable expectations that you can get access to, and make inroads with, such brands. Blast Beat has already got great connections with hundreds of amazing music-industry related businesses — now they need someone whose smartphone is filled with contacts at national and international companies (or the media agencies that represent them) whose product(s) would be a great fit for the metal community.

  • You should live in the United States, since 65% of Blast Beat readers are from the U.S. And given the locale of most national brands, you probably need to be on the ground in New York (or possibly LA or SF).

  • Awesome, warm, upbeat personality and amazing communication skills that translate via phone and email.

  • Comfort with cold calls and hunting down leads – THIS JOB IS NOT FOR THE MEEK!

  • Self-motivated and reliable — you can work from anywhere, and the hours you want… but you gotta be consistently WORKING IT HARD, and communicating constantly. You need to be a bulldog.

  • Loooove blogs and social media.
