According to Rock N Roll Experience, former Child’s Play frontman Brian Jack has passed away. While his family reportedly confirmed the news earlier today, exact details regarding his death are still unknown.

Drummer John Allen (now the frontman of Charm City Devils) had the following to say about the death of his former bandmate:

“I am completely shocked and saddened by the death of Brian Jack. He was one of the most gifted, charismatic artists I have ever had the pleasure of sharing the stage with. He along with the rest of the guys were the brothers I never had. I will miss him incredibly.”

Child’s Play was an 80’s hair metal band likely best known for their major label debut album Rat Race (released in 1990 via Chrysalis Records). The title track got a fair amount of airplay on MTV’s Headbanger’s Ball, back when it was a show that wasn’t on at 2am on a Sunday. Jack started out as a guitarist when the band formed in 1983, but took over vocal duties around 1987. The frontman left the group in 1991 to pursue a solo career, but reunited with Child’s Play for a holiday reunion show in December of 2011 at the Ram’s Head Live in Baltimore.

The music video for Child’s Play’s “Rat Race” can be seen above, while footage of the group’s reunion show in Baltimore last December can be seen after the jump. Our condolences go out to Jack’s family and friends.
