Late last year, fans of Every Time I Die, Anthrax and Fall Out Boy were excited to hear from FOB’s Andy Hurley that The Damned Things, a supergroup between members of all three bands that released one album, 2010’s Ironiclast, was recording an EP. In an interview with Alternative Press, singer Keith Buckley (also of Every Time I Die), elaborated a bit more on the announcement. While Hurley had said he’d recorded drums for their next release, Buckley was a bit more measured about the progress of the EP:

“While we have more than enough material for an EP, we are still very much in the ‘demo’ phase,” Buckley told AP, “rearranging riffs and trying different things vocally. And though it’s a little too early to say what the next release will sound like comprehensively, we’ve taken a different approach to writing this time around. Things are more atmospheric and weirder. We’ve loosened up a bit and learned to let our major influences speak. In that way, it’s the truest sound we’re capable of.”

In addition to Hurley and Buckley, the band also includes Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian, Volbeat guitarist Rob Caggiano (who was in Anthrax at the time), and Fall Out Boy guitarist Joe Trohman. All three bands have released albums in the past two years, so like any other supergroup, it’s all about arranging schedules.
