System-of-a-Down

Last Monday night (July 29), System Of A Down played their only U.S. date of 2013 at the Hollywood Bowl in L.A. However, the night was memorable for fans thanks to a comment made by drummer John Dolmayan at the end of the show.

“Next time we come back here, we’ll have a new fucking album!,” declared Dolmayan as SOAD took their final bows onstage. Fan filmed footage of the drummer’s comments can be seen below [starting around the 2:28 mark]. This comes a few months after Shavo Odadjian caused a little media disruption by posting a series of comments on his Facebook page declaring that Serj Tankian was to blame for no new album (even suggesting the idea of getting a new singer). The band, though, was quick to downplay the bassist’s comments.

However, as great as it is to hear such “confirmation” from a SOAD member directly, it could be a long time till the band even play in the States again. Not only have their tours been sporadically scheduled since regrouping in 2010, but so far they only have European dates scheduled for the rest of 2013. Plus, Tankian still doesn’t seem totally convinced that a new album will come out anytime soon.
