Rob Caggiano Co-producing Volbeat’s New Album

When announcing his departure from Anthrax, Rob Caggiano stated that he was hoping to concentrate on production work. Well, now it turns out that Caggiano’s first producer job since leaving Anthrax will be with Volbeat.

The Denmark rockabilly metal group announced earlier this morning that their new album, titled Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies, will be produced by Caggiano and longtime collaborator Jacob Hansen (pictured together above). Frontman Michael Poulsen had the following to say about their new album and producer:

“We’re back in the studio, this time breaking some of our old habits and this sometimes means leaving our comfort zone. We are recording in a new environment, producing with a new set up breaking new sonic ground and it’s exciting! Together with our longtime collaborator Jacob Hansen we also have the honor of having producer Rob Caggiano on board in the producer’s seat. Expect lots of surprises and some of our most rocking heavy songs to date. We feel more than ever that we are taking the Volbeat sound to another level without changing what we’re all about. Can’t wait for it to get out there!”

Besides producing albums by his own groups (Anthrax and The Damned Things), Caggiano’s produced records by Cradle Of Filth, A Life Once Lost, and many others. And given that he’s done a pretty swell job as a producer (with Anthrax’s Worship Music and Cradle Of Filth’s Nymphetamine having been nominated by the Grammys), we’re excited to hear what he does with Volbeat. Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies is slated to come out this spring via Vertigo/Universal.
