From Under Concrete Kings are gearing up for their new EP, Modus Exodus, which is scheduled to arrive tomorrow (14th). The independent group initially started as a fun project, and it has grown to be much more. We saw this shortly after the release of their song “Your Occlusion Unbound,” which now has over 60,000 plays on YouTube. Today (13th), the group has teamed up with Metal Insider for an exclusive early stream of their EP as well as an interview to learn more about the release.

How long have you been working on the EP Modus Exodus?

We started work on what was to be, Modus Exodus in the Spring of 2019, so about 11months.

Can you give us a track to track guide?

“DESTROYER”

Arguably has the best melody / chorus of the whole release while also covering all the bases of what kind of stuff we wanted to play. The lyrical content was also incredibly personal, making it a real knife-turner.

“Self-Terminate”

Is more frantic and chaotic, with more speed, melody driven from the vocals as opposed to the guitars… more of a journey in its composition.

“Grim Satisfaction”

Is simply put, a meat grinder. We wanted to see just how heavy we could go, and we reached some incredible bottom end, especially vocally.

“Snakecrusher”

Is another barn-burner that covers all the bases. We wanted to go obscenely heavy and explore some heightened melodics in the same song, while also doing some interesting things with the breakdowns, like descending measures in tandem with descending growls. It’s arguably the meanest track on the release.

For those who are unfamiliar, how would you describe your overall sound?

Obscenely Heavy, Strange & Technical, but also touting some legit melodic chops.

Are there any updates you can share on a new full-length?

We’re already well underway with pre-production on our next release, but it won’t be a full length. We like putting out EP’s. We’ll be recruiting some interesting players to collaborate on a track or two this time around.

What touring plans do you have for this year?

We’re planning some east coast touring for the summer months once our visual content release schedule is complete.

Anything else you want to say or add to your fans?

This started out as a recording project between two friends, only with the purpose of making some interesting and frankly, ridiculous content. That it has been so well received and grown into something far bigger and tangible is hugely gratifying. Thank you all so much for the continued and growing support. We’ve got so much more in store for you.
