TFN Golden God with Mike PortnoyMeeting Mike Portnoy and Billy Sheehan on the Black Carpet

Mike Portnoy has voiced his love for Twelve Foot Ninja via social media, but the Black Carpet marked the first time the ex- Dream Theater drummer got to meet the band. “He’s tweeted about Twelve Foot Ninja a couple times before, saying we were one of his favorite new bands. So getting to finally meet him was really cool,” shares Stevic. An added bonus was also getting to meet bass legend and Portnoy’s Winery Dogs bandmate Billy Sheehan. “He was standing next to Mike, and it just hit me and I went ‘Oh, g’day Billy!,’” recalls Kin with a laugh. “So I got to introduce myself to him and before he left, he turned to me and went ‘So good to meet you man!’ That was lovely.”

Talking to Max Cavalera

After spotting the Soulfly/ex-Sepultura frontman during the show, Stevic remembered a conversation he had with Sirius XM’s Jose Mangin. “I remember Jose telling me ‘He knows your shit!’,” recalled Stevic. “That sort of stuck in my head, so when I saw Max, I said ‘Hey Max, I’m from Twelve Foot Nina, and I love your shit,’ cause that’s how Jose said it to us. And he goes ‘I love your shit!’ So we had this sort of ‘shit’ appreciation [laugh].” The “shit appreciation” was an especially cool moment for Stevic since he used to sing “Roots Bloody Roots” in a band during his high school days.
