While the Revolver Golden Gods is a night to celebrate metal, there were plenty of celebrities walking the Black Carpet as well. And throughout the night, the guys ended up chatting with actor Joe Manganiello, who plays Alcide Herveaux on True Blood. “He was really down to earth,” recalls Stevic. “We got to talking about Ryan Kwanten, who’s an Australian actor that’s kicking ass and also on True Blood. Then I said to him ‘You know, I think we’re the only Aussie band up for an award, but I don’t think we’ll win.’ And then later, while we were watching Guns N’ Roses, he was standing right there and I said ‘Dude, we won!’ He high fived me and shit, it was awesome.” Manganiello also introduced the guys to some new slang. As Stevic recalls, “Beforehand, he was like ‘Oh, you’re gonna totally floss it!’” “Maybe it’s an L.A. thing,” Kin ponders. “Hey, when Alcide (a werewolf) tells you to floss it, you just go with it!” declares Stevic with a laugh.
Watching Joan Jett perform
The night was filled with many performances (even a few surprise ones). Yet one that stood out to Kin was watching the former Runaways rocker’s solo set. “I’m not saying she’s old, and she’s got a very youthful spirit, but just seeing her rock out like that in her vintage was pretty amazing,” says Kin. “That really took me by surprise. I don’t know why I wasn’t expecting that, but I wasn’t. She gave it everything, she really rocked out! It was so cool to watch.”
