What a difference a few years makes. When KEN Mode released their last album, Venerable, in 2011, it was their first for Profound Lore. The band’s mix of hardcore intensity and AmRep-style loud indie rock was a breath of fresh air. Produced by Converge’s Kurt Ballou, that album really put them on the map beyond their native Canada, where they were virtually unknown. Then again, it really established them there as well, as the album won a Juno (essentially a Canadian Grammy) for Heavy Metal/Hard Music Album of the Year. Now, the band’s next album, Entrench, will be their first on Season of Mist records.
Entrench was recorded with Matt Bayles (Mastodon, The Sword, etc.). The album will be released on Season of Mist on March 19. They’ll be in the midst of a tour with Today is the Day, Black Tusk and Fight Amp by then. Here’s the track listing of Entrench:
