03) Faith No More

For me, there is one band that has done no wrong, and that is Faith No More. The first time I saw them live, all I could do was stand there and watch Mike “Puffy” Bordin beat those two massive mounted toms to death. Since that night, he has been one of my favorite drummers, and I like to think some my hard hitting and big flams come from listening to him play for so long.

I go round and round on which record is my favorite. The Real Thing came out my junior year of high school, and when “Falling to Pieces” kicks in to start the record it brings back a whirlwind of feel good memories. Their newest record, Sol Invictus, (after a way too long hiatus) is brilliant, and “Matador” may be the best song they have ever written. BUT Angel Dust is an absolute masterpiece, and a record that was ahead of its time. Those five guys wrote a record that they wanted to write, and didn’t give a shit what the label wanted or what MTV or the critics had to say. It’s a timeless record that I will never get tired of.
