MetalSucks.net was one of the first to confirm it, but more details have been revealed about Mastodon’s new live CD/DVD. Mastodon: Live At The Aragon, which was filmed during the band’s stop at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago back in October of 2009, will be released on March 15 via Reprise Records. The show documents the band performing their album Crack The Skye in its entirety, as well as a mini-set of classics and a cover of Melvins’ “The Bit.” A special bundle package, featuring extras like guitar picks and a tour laminate, is also available for pre-order over at MastodonRocks.com.

As a fan that got to see Mastodon perform Crack The Skye in its entirety twice, it truly was a spectacular performance. Granted, something was a bit off when I saw them perform at last year’s New England Metal & Hardcore Festival.  However, when I saw them performing with Dethklok prior to NEMHF, I was simply blown away. Mastodon’s amazing musicianship mixed with bizarre/ psychedelic filmed psychedelic visuals made the show quite the experience. The track listing for Mastodon: Live At The Aragon can be viewed below, while a trailer for the CD/DVD can be watched above.
