We’re excited to announce Metal Insider’s CMJ 2013 showcase, which will take place at Club Europa in Brooklyn on Wednesday, October 16. Our stellar lineup will feature
Nachtmystium, Byzantine, Black Anvil, Ramming Speed and Vattnet Viskar. This year, we really wanted to host something the underground metal community could claim as its own, something to showcase both the metal that drives us and the most cutting-edge extreme music we could possibly cram into a room. We’ve spent months finding the perfect mix for our lineup, each making an exclusive appearance for only this night of CMJ. Nachtmystium The kings of psychedelic black metal (or “meddle” on the band’s two Assassins albums) were reportedly on hiatus at one point this year, but Blake Judd and the rest of his Chicago-based band have quietly been working on a new album to follow 2012’s uncompromisingly powerful Silencing Machine.
The critically-acclaimed, Lamb of God-championed band reformed to self-release their self-titled album earlier this year after a successful Kickstarter campaign. This showcase will be Byzantine’s first New York City show since 2007, and it will be a much-deserved welcome back for one of the most underrated American metal bands of the past 10 years.
After touring with Watain last year, the NYC-based black metal band returns from the studio, where it’s been recording the long-awaited follow-up to 2010’s Triumvirate.
Prosthetic’s grind-thrash gang comes barreling into CMJ from Boston, fresh off the release of relentless debut album Doomed to Destroy, Destined to Die.
The cerebral atmospheric black/doom metal of the Plaistow, New Hampshire, three-piece has earned raves from everyone from Decibel to Pitchfork in the wake of its Century Media debut, Sky Swallower.
CMJ badges will be accepted at the door as capacity allows. To ensure entry, advance tickets are now on sale for $12. Showtime is 8:00 PM. Metal Insider will have additional surprises, updates and coverage to come as this year’s CMJ Music Marathon draws closer.
