Amplified: Physics of Demise are not a “Sickening Sight”

Amplified is a weekly column focusing on new and emerging artists. Got a band that fits the bill? Email [email protected].

Connecticut’s Physics of Demise have been around for a while, and as someone who used to play in a very similar style and lived in a similar location, they’re the kind of band I’m surprised I didn’t share a stage with at some point in the past. This is classic Swedish melodic death; chainsaw guitar tone and At The Gates vibes abound, but some of the lead melodies and chord choices remind me of late-period Dissection (klvt-cred aside, if you actually listen to the guitar work on that album you’d know that’s high praise)

Watch the very dark “Sickening Sight” video below, and check out their album Farewell To Better Days on their Youtube channel while you’re at it.
