There’s a lot of progressive metal out there, but due to the glut of it, there’s a lot of generic and boring progressive metal out there. Los Angeles-based Perceptionist isn’t one of them. Inspired by the likes of Between the Buried and Me, Periphery and The Contortionist, the band successfully crowd-funded their debut album, Evolve, which was released last week, and is streaming now on Bandcamp, where it’s also available for purchase. The album was mixed and mastered by Jamie King (BTBAM,  Scale the Summit, etc.), and while it’s reminiscent of the bands the quartet are inspired by, they put their own spin on things. The band have played around southern California, and plan on touring around the release. Check out the title track of Evolve via the video above.
