Cypress Hill, Biohazard, ex-Fear Factory members form Powerflo; hear “Resistance”

If anything was proven by Prophets of Rage’s formation last year, it’s that there’s still an appetite for rap-rock. A new band, Powerflo, has formed consisting of Cypress Hill’s Sen Dog, former Fear Factory bassist Christian Wolde Olbers, Biohazard’s Billy Graziadei, former downset. member Rogelio Lozano and Fernando Schaefer of Worst. And while Prophets of Rage couldn’t help but sound like Rage Against the Machine, the diversity of this band makes them sound like a different band than any of the aformentioned bands.

The new project, whose debut album will be released on June 23rd on New Damage Records, unveiled a new song, “Resistance,” via Metal Injection today. If anything, it sounds perhaps the most like Downset or Biohazard than any of the ot her bands their members were or are in. It’s heavier than Prophets of Rage, and if you’re thinking this is a one-off, that’s not what Sen Dog says:

“We’re here to make honest music. It’s not about pleasing anybody or confirming anything. We’re creating from a pure place. We worked our asses off. It’s not a one-time thing. It’s just the first Powerflo album. There’s much more to come…”

You can pre-order the band’s self-titled album, which will be out on June 23rd, here.
