As middle-aged as metal is, deathcore is still a relatively new subgenre, with it really only having taken off as a known classification in the past decade or so. Emmure certainly qualifies as deathcore, but then again, with Frankie Palmeri more or less overhauling the band with members of The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza and Glass Cloud, it’s kind of a whole new band. Today, the new incarnation of the band released “Torch,” a track taken from their forthcoming album in 2017, which will be on their new label, SharpTone.
“Torch” is still deathcore, but it’s a step in a slightly more normal direction. It’s still Emmure, to be sure. If you weren’t a fan before, this might not change your mind. Then again if you like Glass Cloud (and former TTDTE) guitarist Josh Travis, former Glass Cloud drummer Josh Miller or former TTDTE bassist Phil Lockett, you’ll want to give this a listen regardless.
