Screen Shot 2016-01-25 at 10.20.33 AMAlthough Lamb of God is still a priority for guitarist Mark Morton, he’s managed to have some fun with side projects, like the one he did with Dez Fafara a few years back. Yesterday, as a large portion of the Northeast dug themselves out from one of the biggest blizzards in history, Morton released “SnowBound,” an instrumental track featuring Clutch’s Jean-Paul Gaster on drums Stinking Lizaveta’s Yanii Papadopolous on bass and Chris Brooks on keyboards. Here’s what Morton says about it on Lamb of God’s Facebook page:

“Here is sample of some of the new music I’ve been working on. It’s definitely a little different than what you’re used to hearing me do with LAMB. There are some great players involved in this project (including J.P. from CLUTCH on the drums!). I’m having a blast working on this stuff, and that’s what this is all about for me… FUN! I hope you enjoy it!”

It’s definitely different from Lamb of God, and not just because it’s instrumental. This is bluesy and relatively laid back. Gaster’s jazz-influenced drumming stands out, as does Morton’s soloing. It’ll be interesting to see if more comes of this, but for now, get “SnowBound.”
