New & Noteworthy, May 26th – Resist

Posted by on May 26, 2015

Coming back to work after a holiday weekend is always tough. You just want to continue the rest and relaxation that you had on your extra day off. Fight the urge to slack off with some of these new heavy music releases – they will definitely get the adrenaline flowing without any difficulty!

Anti-Flag, American Spring (Spinefarm)

This is the first release on Spinefarm for the American punk stalwarts, and they’re making the most of it. Anti-Flag’s ninth album is more politically charged than the band has ever been before, and given the state of the world right now, it may be just what everyone needs. The album packaging even includes essays and detailed methods about how to take action in the liner notes, allowing everyone that listens to take up a cause and fight injustice.

Pyramaze, Disciples of the Sun (Inner Wound)

This Danish power-prog group has never had an easy time. Even beyond the constant shuffling of vocalists that seems to take place, they also lost founding guitarist Michael Kammeyer and bassist Niels Kvist in 2011. However, Pyramaze has soldiered on, even to the point of bringing producer Jacob Hansen into the fold as a guitarist while he continues to produce their material. Disciples of the Sun is Pyramaze’s fourth album, and their first since 2008’s breakthrough success Immortal.

Arcturus, Arcturian (Prophecy)

Arcturus has been nothing short of methodical in their return from the grave. After reuniting in 2011, the avant-garde masters have played choice festivals and one-shot dates, all while slowly recording and perfecting a new album. It’s been several years in the making, but finally, a new Arcturus album is upon us, and fans everywhere are ready to hear the first new material from the band since 2005.
