Well that didn’t take long. Just last week, Nine Inch Nails announced that they’d signed to Columbia and a new album would be out later this year. And while the next album, which looks to be called Hesitation Marks,  won’t be out until September 3rd,  a new single, “Came Back Haunted,” made its way online last night. There was supposed to be a world premiere later today via Clear Channel’s stations, but The Antiquiet got ahold of it first, and the band officially released a Soundcloud version that you can stream below earlier today with official artwork from Russell Mills.

Our take on the song? It’s definitely Nine Inch Nails, and it’s good to have Trent Reznor back in what many will always consider his main project. It’s an upbeat track that’s somewhere between the aggression of The Downward Spiral and the more atmospheric Year Zero. There are some cool, woozy-sounding synths throughout the song, and it opens up on repeated listens. The jagged guitar solo gives it a nice edge as well. Check it out after the jump.
