NYC duo Bangladeafy’s music stands on its own without any back story. The mostly instrumental drum and bass duo sound like the bastard child of Primus, Rush and Animals As Leaders. Then you get to the origin of the band’s name, which is that drummer Atif Haq is Banladeshi and bassist (and pianist and sometime vocalist) John Ehlers is almost entirely deaf. He and his sisters were born with sensorineural hearing loss. If you’d think that would lead to percussive music that you can feel as much as you can hear, that’s correct, and today we’re proud to bring you the premiere of “Act Like An Adult.” On the track, taken from the band’s forthcoming EP, Narcopaloma, Ehlers’ spastic and busy bass work is matched in intensity by Haq’s drums. The swirling fusion-like rhythms and subtle keyboard swells are the audio equivalent of an amusement park ride that leaves you breathless when it’s over and makes you immediately get in line to ride it again.

Narcopaloma will be released on August 26th on Nefarious Industries. You can preorder it here.
