The Damned Things might not be top of mind for many music fans. The project was the turn of the decade supergroup featuring Anthrax’s Scott Ian and then-bandmate Rob Caggiano (now in Volbeat), with Fall Out Boy’s Joe Trohman on guitar and Andy Hurley and Every Time I Die’s Keith Buckley and Josh Newton rounding out the sextet. The band’s album, Ironiclast, was much heavier than Fall Out Boy and a little more rock and roll that both Anthrax and Every Time I Die, and while the band didn’t really play out that often because it was beholden to it’s members’ day jobs, they made a fun video.

Earlier this year, Keith Buckley stated that the band was in demo phase. And while we’re still not any closer to details about a follow up, yesterday Buckley released a snippet of new music from the band. It cuts off before the vocals kick in (or right as they do), but it starts off with an almost ambient guitar hum before kicking into a bluesy lick that wouldn’t sound out of place on a ’68 album.  Whie they haven’t said anything yet, we’re hearing that Jay Ruston (Anthrax) might be recording it with them.
