We’re really anxious to listen to The Ocean’s Pelagial as a whole. As has been detailed online, the album is meant to be listened to as one record. Taking the band’s name literally, the album is layered into five movements representing the ocean’s five layers, with several songs for each movement. Starting out lighter, the album gets darker and heavier, just like you were descending in an ocean itself. We’ve already heard one part, “Bathyalpelagic II: The Wish In Dreams,” which is one of the upper layers of the ocean. Now Pitchfork is streaming “Hadopelagic II: Let The Believe.” Given that the Hadopelagic layer is the last, it can be presumed that this is one of the last songs on the album, and as would be expected, it builds in intensity towards a heavy ending. You can pick up the album on April 30 on Metal Blade, but it’s available for pre-order now.
