Japanese metal phenomenon Babymetal has announced a set of live albums, and you won’t have to wait long to hear them.
Legend – Metal Galaxy [Day 1] and Legend – Metal Galaxy [Day 2] are set for release digitally on September 9. The albums capture the band’s special “Extra Show Legend – Metal Galaxy” two-day event that took place at the Makuhari Messe Convention Center in Chiba, Japan on January 25 and January 26, 2020 as part of their Metal Galaxy world tour.
Playing to more than 50,000 people between the two shows, fans got two vastly different experiences at each. Featuring two completely different set lists, Babymetal focused on their “light force” for ‘Day 1, displaying the more upbeat, pop-y side of their sound, while ‘Day 2’ explores their “dark force” and the group’s heavier side.
Babymetal released their latest album, Metal Galaxy, in October 2019. The follow-up to 2016’s ‘Metal Renaissance,’ it was the group’s first album not to feature third member Yuimetal, who left in 2018 due to an undisclosed health issue. Metal Galaxy debuted at number 13 on the Billboard 200 and topped the Hard Rock and Top Rock Album charts, making Babymetal the first Asian act to do so. Metal Galaxy also debuted at number 19 in the U.K. and number 18 in Germany.
In addition to the live albums, DVD and Blu-Ray copies of Legend – Metal Galaxy [Day 1] and Legend – Metal Galaxy [Day 2] will be available for sale in Japan on September 9. CDs of the album can be purchased all over the world as imports on Amazon (‘Day 1’ & ‘Day 2’).
