Dream Theater’s 13th album, The Astonishingisn’t lacking in ambition. It’s a concept album, it’s a double album, and it’s got the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra on it. The one thing it didn’t have on it was any female vocalists. That changed today, as the band have released an alternate version of “Our New World” featuring Halestorm’s Lzzy Hale. Is this is a brazen attempt at getting played on rock radio? Perhaps, but it could work. The track is one of the shorter and more commercial songs the band has written in a while. And Hale’s powerful voice matches well with James LaBrie’s. The single comes just as the band have announced a new leg of their tour in which they’ll play the entire double album. Will Hale stop any of the first three dates, all Pennsylvania dates a few hours drive from their hometown, to duet? We’ll see, but give a listen below and check the tour dates below that.

The Astonishing is in stores now.
