Gofundme page launched for Stryper guitarist Oz Fox’s medical bills

Posted by on August 15, 2018

Stryper guitarist Oz Fox suffered a seizure onstage this past Saturday (11th) with his side-project Sin City Sinners at Harrah’s in Las Vegas, NV. Due to having no health insurance, a GoFundMe campaign has been launched to help pay for his enormous medical bills.

The page reads the following explanation as well as sharing a health update:

“While performing on stage in Las Vegas, on August 12th, 2018 at approximately 12:30 am Oz Fox had a seizure on stage.  He was taken to the hospital to stabilize his vitals and was given a CAT scan & MRI. Results showed that he had 2 masses in his head, one by his ear and the other in the back of his brain. The next day he was given a spinal tap. Results stated he had no infections in his spine, so now Oz will go under testing for brain surgery biopsies.

The only problem is–he doesn’t have health insurance.  We are in the process of getting him coverage, but in the meantime, his hospital bills are piling up at an enormous rate! We don’t know how much the brain biopsies will cost, nor what will happen when we get the results back–whether he will need more surgery to remove any tumors or treatment plans for healing.

Oz cannot drive, fly or work for 3 months because of the potential seizures. Stryper has had to cancel some of the shows out of the country because Oz cannot perform due to his medical condition.

Anything that is given will go directly to the costs incurred to help to Oz & Annie with medical bills and supplement any income lost.

Oz has been in Stryper for over 30 years as a founding member and is in many different bands in Las Vegas.  God has used his joy filled soul and zest for life in so many ways with countless people! When you meet Oz–you feel like you’ve known him all your life! He is a wonderful son, dad, husband, musician, but most of all a faithful, reliable and a loyal friend.  He would give his shirt off his back to help anyone in need–that’s who he is. Oz truely has a heart of gold!

Oz would like to sincerely thank everyone—he is overwhelmed with the support that’s been shown so far—he didn’t know so many people would care so deeply. “

Oz’s wife, Annie Lobért has been providing health updates on her social media, stating:

“Update on Oz Fox: Spinal tap results in: No infection, but Oz needs a procedure for biopsies on his brain.

Not going to lie…this has messed me up! But yesterday I was reminded of 2 Cronicles 20 & the story of king Jehoshaphat—how the enemy was coming against him fierce! The attack upon them was serious & looked like in the natural they would surely lose…but here is what God said:

“Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s.

You will not need to fight this battle…POSITION yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, who is with you, oh Judah & Jerusalem! Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the Lord is with you.

And Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground, and all Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem bowed before the Lord”

The story goes that king ordered the people to sing and worship as they headed out to battle:

“Praise the Lord, His mercy endures forever!”

And when they started singing, God brought ambushes against the enemies and they were DEFEATED.

So here is what I’m asking all of you to do—believe that God is good—worship with us & pray with us as we head into this battle.

We trust God no matter what. This is how we fight our battles—it may look like we’re surrounded but God is surrounding us.

Oz says he just wants to get home & play his guitar—get better & get back on stage. Oh and make some pancakes. Lols!

We sincerely love you all and thank you for standing in the gap!”

Stryper frontman Michael Sweet shared the following:

“I met Oz when I was almost 13 years old. We went to high school together and we’ve been through it all together. We’ve been a “duo” for almost our entire lives and I love him. He’s family and a brother to me. Unexpectedly Oz fell ill and is now in the hospital. We’re all waiting to hear good news and we’re all praying deeply for that🙏 We so appreciate your thoughts and prayers.

The internet is a great place to rally people for support and if there was ever a time for that, now is the time.

This happened just a few days before we were to leave for Australia & Japan for a two week run. We spent Sunday & Monday speaking with promoters trying to figure out how to proceed. We were able to postpone Japan (which was and is our first option). We tried to postpone the Australian dates as well but due to financial restraints (on the Australian side mind you), we made the very difficult decision to go after all and do what is best for all involved.

The first thing we did was to get Oz’s blessing and being the person that Oz is, we received that. Although it will not be the same at all without Oz, we did what we felt we had to do and we did it the best way we possibly could.

The important thing right now is Oz’s health and well being. Please continue to pray for him at this time. Pray for Annie and his family as well. We’ll be releasing updates as they come in.

We look forward to seeing you all on the road – with our brother, friend and partner Oz.

Thank you🙏

M”
