Immortal founding member Demonaz and Horgh are writing new material – as Immortal. This comes after winning a court battle against former founding member Abbath (Olve Eikemo) who tried to lay claim to the Immortal band name.

Said the band,

“Immortal never stopped, we just had to go through a long legal process before we could go out in the media with the news. Immortal is much more than just a band, and much more then just a form of music. The departure of one member cannot change that, no matter. We will continue what we believe in, and the power of ‘Blashyrkh’ shall live on.”

Abbath attempted to trademark the name back in October of 2014, then left Immortal back in March, saying, “the name of Immortal, for the time being, will rest.” The name, however, carries on without Abbath, and Immortal continues work on the follow up to their 2009 album, All Shall Fall.
