Earlier this year Morbid Angel guitarist Trey Azagthoth was arrested on a misdemeanor DUI charge on January 1st and released from Pinellas County Jail the following morning, January 2nd, 2020 at 9:21 a.m. The Smoking Gun reports additional details on the guitarist’s arrest as Azagthoth, who was pulled over for speeding in Florida, allegedly told the cops, “I’m a professional drinker.” On New Year’s Day at approximately 11:09 PM, Azagthoth was pulled over after speeding in a 35 mph zone and appeared to have “watery and glassy” eyes with a blood alcohol content reading .218 and .211, which was a measurement at nearly three times the .08 legal limit. After being read his rights, the guitarist did admit to having 1-2 shots of whiskey before driving.
