It was only a few months ago when Portland, Oregon speed metallers Spellcaster teamed up with Prosthetic Records labelmates Starkill on a North American tour in support of their 2016 album Night Hides the World. The band have been through quite a few changes over the years, especially since guitarist and founding member Cory Boyd left the group last November. Their last tour made things look promising for the group as a whole up until just a few weeks ago. Vocalist Tyler Loney decided to leave the band to “pursue a different path,” making the rest of the group to put the Spellcaster name to rest.
The band shared the following:
“This week, our vocalist Tyler Loney decided it was his time to pursue a different path and left the band on good terms. We wish him nothing but the best.
This, compounded with the exit of guitarist & founding member Cory Boyd in Nov. 16′ has brought the remaining members of SPELLCASTER to the conclusion that we must now lay the name to rest.
We’d like to thank everyone who played a role in our lives as musicians, however major or minor. We truly got a crash course in the hospitality of strangers and proof that music really does bring people together.
7 years, 3 albums, 100’s of shows across the USA and Europe. Countless friends made along the way. It truly was a rollercoaster!
THANKYOU TO ALL FANS OF SPELLCASTER PAST AND PRESENT. WE COULDNT HAVE DONE IT WITHOUT YOU!
