Stone Temple Pilots talked about changing name

Posted by on June 1, 2015

In a recent interview with A-Sides Interviews, Stone Temple Pilots vocalist Chester Bennington (who also sings in Linkin Park), revealed that the band considered changing their name.

Said Bennington during the interview (video below),

“We did talk about maybe changing the name of the band, and just doing something new. Honestly, my thing was like, why give up what you guys have worked so hard on? This is your legacy, you don’t have to give it up just because one person didn’t do things the way that everybody wanted them to go, didn’t do things everybody planned. We should be able to move forward.”

Stone Temple Pilots fired Scott Weiland back in 2013, who had been with the band since they formed in 1985. “We feel very fortunate that Chester said yes,” said Dean DeLeo during the interview, saying that, “there probably wouldn’t have been anything (from Stone Temple Pilots) if we didn’t ask Chester to be a part of the band.”
